They include mortgage lenders and servicers, housing counselors, real estate agents, and other industry professionals. Our Single-Family business helps mortgage lenders to safely originate mortgages. Our funding preserves the 30-year, fixed-rate mortgage, an industry standard for many homebuyers. The popular mortgage loan helps homeowners to make stable, predictable mortgage payments over the life of the loan.

The variety of mortgage financing solutions we offer our mortgage lenders supports a diverse group of homebuyers and homeowners in all markets and during all economic cycles. The products inspire our customers to originate and tailor mortgage loans that meet the needs of today's homebuyer.

At the same time, we establish and uphold responsible mortgage lending standards. We created underwriting, eligibility, and risk management standards to help protect taxpayers.

At Fannie Mae, we provide liquidity to the single-family market by purchasing and guaranteeing mortgage loans made by our customers and issuing debt securities that attract global investors to finance U.S. housing. Over the past few years, we distributed some of our mortgage credit risk to private investors. As a result, we are reducing taxpayer risks.

Altogether, we drive our customers to extend credit to borrowers across the U.S., so they can buy, refinance, and rent homes.

Fannie Mae is a market leader for financing multifamily properties. Our Multifamily business works to ensure that access to affordable and workforce rental housing is available in all markets across the country.

The cornerstone of our Multifamily business is our Delegated Underwriting and Servicing® (DUS®) program. It is a unique model that leverages private capital to finance multifamily housing in communities throughout the country. We work with a national network of participating customers to finance apartment buildings. Lenders are able to share the risk of the loans they sell to Fannie Mae through the program.

We transform multifamily loans into mortgage-backed securities in order to provide liquidity to the multifamily market. This conversion increases available funds in the financial system. It also helps ensure funds are available to finance workforce rental housing.
