During the summer, you will work with and learn from talented and motivated colleagues. You will use the latest business trends and technologies to solve real-world housing challenges. We are looking for rising university juniors and seniors for internship opportunities in our Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia, and Plano, TX offices.

Full-Time Opportunities

Areas of Opportunity
Are you a self-starter with a strong analytical background who loves to find solutions? We’re looking for Future Makers who are curious and tech savvy.
We are seeking applications from students in the following majors: economics, finance, business, computer science/engineering, systems engineering, information technology, analytics, or math/statistics. A strong GPA is preferred, and candidates must have authorization to work in the U.S. Below are some of our areas of opportunity.
Technology
You’ll begin your career joining a comprehensive technical development program. Our robust curriculum will help you upskill in emerging technologies and give you access to full stack engineer training, which includes courses in front and back-end development, SDET automation, DevSecOps, cloud, and security. You’ll also have access to sandbox environments, interactive learning scenarios, and live trainings for tools and skills aligned to your role and for career growth with us.
Skills You’ll Gain:
- Front-end: JavaScript, Angular
- Back-end: Core Java, Core Spring, Spring Boot, SQL Databases, RESTful Services, Python
- SDET (Automation): Cucumber, Selenium
- DevOps: Gitlab, Docker, Jenkins

Analytics and Modeling
You will participate in a 10-week seminar-type training that offers hands-on experience and interaction with team members to help you gain a strong understanding of Fannie Mae’s business and a quick start on your analytical capabilities. Our business courses provide comprehensive coverage of what we do, like underwriting and pricing, capital markets, loss mitigation, risk management – all the while enhancing your technical knowledge.
Skills You'll Gain:
- Statistical processing languages: SAS, SQL, R and Python
- Business intelligence tools: Tableau
- Technology and data platforms: Netezza, Oracle and UNIX
Finance
You’ll be a part of a program which consists of rotations with various teams in the Finance Division, including Financial Reporting, Finance Business and Analytics, Business Unit CFOs, Financial Planning & Analysis, Economic & Strategic Research, Strategic Analytics and Transformation, and Capital. Through on-the-job training and exposure to different departments, you will add value to key projects, gain financial experience and skills, and build a strong network with peers and managers.

Business
You’ll receive on-the-job training and professional development while collaborating across the business to make recommendations for solutions that improve processes, business efficiency, and enhance data and technology performance. You will work with a best-in-class business management office or corporate team within a department like Enterprise Operations, Single Family, Multifamily, and Enterprise Models & Climate Impact.
