Featuring
Amit G., Lead Associate, Data Engineering and Platforms

Want to grow your career and refine your skills using the latest AI tools? Learn how Amit has done just that at Fannie Mae and how he continues to drive the innovations that make the company a leader in housing finance.

Putting innovation into action

Amit, lead associate in data engineering, says his years at Fannie Mae have been a defining chapter in his more than 25-year career in software development: “This role has allowed me to leverage my deep software development expertise while continuously adapting to new technologies, making it one of the most fulfilling periods of my career.”

From the start, Amit worked on important initiatives with immediate business impact. Early in his time at Fannie Mae, he participated in a complex data modernization project. To him, the results demonstrated Fannie Mae’s commitment to providing the technological backbone that supports affordable homeownership. It also became clear that this was an organization where technical excellence and innovation were truly valued.

That understanding grew deeper through subsequent Amazon Web Services and cloud architecture projects and, more recently, through generative AI initiatives — all consistently demonstrating Fannie Mae’s dedication to embracing strategic, cutting-edge technology.

“With our upcoming generative AI initiatives,” Amit says, “we’re poised to take this digital journey even further.”

Winning with AI know-how

Amit recently won first place in a competition at the Amazon Web Services Summit in Washington, D.C. In a challenge that used large language models to solve real-world challenges, he developed a solution for a virtual police non-emergency hotline system. He drew on his experience working with AI at Fannie Mae, where he applied machine learning to improve operational efficiency and customer experience.

Amit says, “The most compelling challenge I aim to solve with generative AI is simplifying complex processes and reducing administrative and regulatory burdens through automation, transparency, and enhanced compliance support.”
