As a lifelong California girl, I greet each Santa Ana wind advisory with some trepidation because I know the effects these winds can have on wildfires. And as we all know now, the 2018 fire season will be one for the record books. There have been over 7,000 fires in California this year. The Camp Fire, which destroyed the town of Paradise earlier this week, is the most destructive and deadly fire in modern California history and it is still burning as I write this. Where my family lives in Mid-City LA, all eyes are on the Woolsey Fire, which is threatening homes and businesses in Los Angeles and Ventura counties.
Many of you have been on my mind because I know you have homes and offices in the path of destruction and are waiting to see what will happen. And, many of you who live across the country have portfolios that may be impacted by the fires. Our asset management team is monitoring the situation closely, and will be in touch with servicers once we have more visibility into the situation on the ground.
As we wait to see what we learn when the fires are contained, I just wanted you to know that all of us in Multifamily are thinking of the people and communities in harm's way. Please reach out to me or Amr Fawzi if there's anything we can do to help or questions we can answer, and stay safe.
