Andrew Brammer is Fannie Mae’s interim Chief Risk Officer. He is responsible for Enterprise Risk Management, which oversees the company’s governance and strategy for global risk management. His team provides independent oversight and guidance for managing risk and ensuring compliance — including the development and implementation of risk management measures across the company. The team leads efforts to build and sustain a strong risk culture in which all employees act on their responsibility to manage strategic, market, credit, liquidity, compliance, operational, reputational, and information security. Mr. Brammer currently chairs the Enterprise Risk Committee and is a member of the Management Committee, Fannie Mae's leadership team.
Mr. Brammer joined Fannie Mae in 2008 and has deep expertise in risk management. Before stepping into his current position in April 2022, Mr. Brammer was Vice President and Single-Family Chief Risk Officer. In this role, he led the organization that provides independent oversight of the Single-Family (SF) book and acquisitions, evaluates the effectiveness of risk management across the business, and sets corporate parameters for SF acquisition risk and establishes associated risk limits and thresholds.
He has also served as Vice President, Counterparty Credit Risk, with responsibility for monitoring the financial health of institutions transacting with Fannie Mae across Single-Family, Multifamily, and Capital Markets sectors, including oversight of mortgage insurers and reinsurers.
Prior to that, as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Shared Services, he was responsible for oversight of the administrative expense process for the enterprise, including the annual budgeting process and quarterly forecast as well as reporting progress against budget and corporate metrics.
Earlier in his tenure with the company, Mr. Brammer served as Vice President, Capital Markets Pricing, with responsibilities for mark-to-market pricing and the business ownership of various valuation and market-data applications. He also was responsible for maintaining financial disclosures related to fair value.
Before joining Fannie Mae, Mr. Brammer was Assistant Vice President, Capital Markets at Option One Mortgage Corporation.
Mr. Brammer has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration from California State University, San Bernardino.
