John Nichols is Fannie Mae's Executive Vice President and Chief Risk Officer. Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer, he has responsibility for the company's enterprise risk management team, which provides independent risk oversight of Fannie Mae's balance sheet, its Single-Family and Multifamily businesses, and related financial and operational risks.
Prior to joining Fannie Mae in 2010, Mr. Nichols was Managing Director of Financial Markets Advisory/Relationship Management for BlackRock, responsible for advising senior management, boards, investors, and regulators in the quantification and management of market and credit exposure; implementation of hedging and portfolio strategies; valuation of structured securities; and management of distressed assets.
Previously, Mr. Nichols was Managing Director of Capital Markets for GE Capital Markets Services with direct P&L responsibility for three concurrent capital markets business lines: Debt Syndication, Export Finance, and Mortgage Servicing.
Mr. Nichols has a master of business administration in corporate finance from the University of Michigan and a bachelor of arts in English literature from Kalamazoo College.
