Community Outreach & Volunteerism
Fannie Mae's commitment to community is supported at all levels of the company. Our day-to-day business, our work with business partners, our mission, and specific giving initiatives all contribute to our commitment to strengthen communities. Fannie Mae's robust volunteer program offers benefits to communities, partners, employees, and the company. We provide employees with the following tools to encourage and engage them in using their diverse expertise, skills, and passion to strengthen communities through volunteerism:
  • Ten hours of paid leave per month for volunteer work;
  • An additional week of paid volunteer leave to help in the rebuilding efforts in the Gulf Coast in response to the 2005 hurricanes;
  • Team-building activities that create opportunities for Fannie Mae business units to participate in volunteer service projects; and
  • Recognition of the commitment of individual employees to volunteer service through Corporate Service Awards.
Also available to our employees are:
  • Grants to organizations for which employees have volunteered, matching employees' hours of service; and
  • A matching gift program that increases employees' financial contributions by matching their donations to eligible nonprofits.
